A revolutionary
multi-axis tourbillon
In addition to the axis of its carriage, the Sphérotourbillon mechanism has a second axis inclined at 20° and thereby freeing it from the effects of gravity in all positions.

The Sphérotourbillon Mechanism,
serving the cause of high precision
The carriage machined from a single block of titanium features a combination of lightness and extreme precision. The cylindrical balance-spring with its two terminal curves beats with a concentricity impossible to achieve with a traditional balance-spring.
The balance with its generous inertia oscillates at a cadence of 21,600 vibrations per hour.
The balance-spring stud-holder is protected by a screw-locking system from the effects of shocks and vibrations to which the watch is subjected.

Precision is the watchword of
Jaeger-LeCoultre
They housed it in a case combining ruggedness and classic style and then subjected the watch to a battery of six stringent tests lasting 1000 hours, or nearly six weeks.
The first Master Control was born.
Since then, one by one, all round watches, followed then by other shapes of watch were optimised to reach the standard of performance demanded by the 1000 hour control. Today, every completed watch has to undergo this implacable series of tests before leaving the Manufacture.

An evolution?
No, a revolution!
The Duomètre Sphérotourbillon combines precision and showmanship, technical performance and spectacular complexity, all conveyed in peerlessly elegant style.
A revolutionary
multi-axis tourbillon
An authentic revolution in the field of High Complication models, the Duomètre Sphérotourbillon, stemming from almost 180 years of history and invention unique to
Jaeger-LeCoultre, is equipped with an unprecedented multi-axis tourbillon.

How it works?
Initially devised for pocket-watches, the traditional tourbillon does not serve to compensate for the effects of gravity in all positions.
An additional rotation axis must be added in order to achieve a three-dimensional rotation movement and thus prove itself more effective in all positions that a wrist worn watch may adopt.

Precision is the watchword of
Jaeger-LeCoultre
In 1992, with the aim of creating a new benchmark of reliability and accuracy, the watchmakers chose their best movement: the Jaeger-LeCoultre 889 Calibre (first expression of the known 899 Calibre).
